The ILS GV-6 Isolation Packer is an economical way of isolating intervals
while maintaining a tubing/casing annulus for injection, production or pumping applications.
Once this tool is set the tubing string is free to rotate and reciprocate to set a lower packer or
tubing anchor.
Special Features:
- Eliminates costly squeeze cementing
- One trip run-in
- Isolation span easily adjustable
- Retrievable—no permanent casing restriction
GV-6 Operation
A lower packer or tubing anchor is started in the hole. At a
predetermined depth the lower section of the GV-6 is installed. The
inner tubing and liner are then run to allow proper span of the interval
being isolated. The upper section of the tool is then installed and
the tools are run to the determined setting depth. To set, the tubing
string is picked up and rotated either 1/4 turn right or left depending
on the setting procedure for the lower packer or anchor. Weight is
applied to set and the tubing string is picked up leaving the lower
packer or anchor set. To release, unset the lower packer or anchor.
Slack off the tubing to tag the GV-6. Rotate the tubing 1/4 turn opposite
of the setting procedure and straight pull releases the tool.
